Ecological catastrophe- is it inevitable?

Published by fugazi at 9:45 pm under General, Health & Beauty

The concept of ecological catastrophe or ecological disaster appears in the Media very often. Ecological disasters can be brought about by natural factors, also known as “natural disasters” such as: fire, flood, volcanic eruption, droughts, cyclones and massive development of parasites and pests. Human activities lead to ecological disasters as well.

Problem with plastic packaging, bottles, caps

In fact, many environmental problems that people have to deal with today have been evoked by human beings. One of them is greenhouse effect, also called global warming. It is caused by harmful gases produced by power stations and exhaust fumes from cars. They go up into the Earth’s atmosphere and prevent heat from escaping. As the heat does not leave, the Earth gets warmer. However, not only power stations or cars are the ones that should be blamed for global warming. Producers of plastic packaging as well as the users of plastic caps or bottles tend to burn unnecessary plastics. One of the results of global warming is higher temperature which evokes abnormal weather conditions and leads to melting icebergs. Scientists claim that soon some peninsulas or islands may be flooded by melting icebergs and cease to exist.

Acid rain and other environmental problems

Another environmental problem brought about by the above- mentioned pollutants is acid rain. Factories and cars release poisonous chemicals into the Earth, they mix with water in the clouds the polluted rain, that is, acid rain falls down, damaging buildings, lakes or trees.

Next important problem that my lead to ecological catastrophe and is caused by human beings is the destruction of the ozone layer. Chemicals from aerosol sprays and fridges destroy the layer of gas which protects us from the Sun’s ultraviolet light. When wholes appear in this layer, harmful solar radiation reaches the Earth and people get skin cancer.

There are many other environmental problems and if we don’t try to solve them, the ecological catastrophe will be inevitable and it will affect us all. That is why it is important to know the main sources of pollution and try to change them for better.
